Sevid is a small village in the interior of the Trogir Riviera, part of the municipality of Marina. Sevid is located 12 kilometers to the west from the town of Trogir, and 16 kilometers to the east from the town of Primosten. The closest settlements to the west are Kanica and Ostricka luka and to the east a small holiday settlement in bay Ljubljeva. Nearest larger settlements are Vinisce and Marina. The old village of Sevid today has only several families which live there throughout the year, while most of the local families have built new houses on the coast, in a beautiful and well protected bay as well on a nice peninsula – this is the new Sevid, beautiful small holiday resort oriented mainly towards tourism. In the past the main sources of income for local population was fishing and agriculture, mainly olives and grapevines, and even today many local families preserved this tradition and offer this naturally grown agricultural products to their guests and large number of visitors that visit this beautiful part of the Adriatic coast every year.
The holiday settlement of Sevid developed on a rocky coast only recently. This coastal area was populated for long time by local population, who depended on agriculture and fishing for their livelihood, and they built small traditional stone houses that served as protection during bad weather and storage facilities for their tools, fishing gear and boats. With the development of tourism in the second half of 20th century, the coast began to develop slowly, first by local families who began building their family homes closer to the sea and abandoning old ones in the interior and the old village of Sevid, and later by building of holiday houses by people from the wider area. Today, Sevid is fully developed tourist settlement, vibrant with life in the summer season, and empty in peaceful in the rest of the year.
Sevid is located in a nice bay, protected by several islets in front of it, and on a narrow peninsula. The coast is rocky, with only several small pebble beaches on the peninsula. The rocky shore has been upgraded with concrete slabs and piers by house owners, to provide access to the sea and place for leisure and sunbathing. These concrete slabs in front of each house provide a sense of privacy, since each house has its own part of the coast for sunbathing and sea access. Sevid overlooks the open sea, with only few small islets in front of it, and the strong currents bring fresh sea water which makes the sea in this area extremely clean and clear. Sevid is surrounded by beautiful nature and it is an ideal place for snorkeling, diving and exploring the coast and underwater life, which is abundant in this area, mainly because of nourishing and oxygen abundant sea water and rocky coast, which fish and marine organism love very much, because it offers protection to them and their offspring.
This area of the coast is ideal for those that seek peace and tranquillity and that are not in search for noisy tourist destinations, but prefer to spend their holiday in a natural environment, enjoying the sun, the nature and the sea. Sevid is very popular for families with children, because most of houses are located in the first row to the sea, and parents can enjoy their time in terraces and gardens of their accommodation, and overlook the children in their play in front of the house. The accommodation in Sevid is available in private holiday houses that offer apartments or rooms. There is a small shop on the peninsula, and the possibility of renting boats, a sea scooters and windsurfing equipment.
